Killossery RC Christmas Show postponed:
Due to the forecasted bad weather for this weekend, Killossery RC Christmas show, scheduled to take place this Saturday the 18th December has been postponed until Sunday, the 23rd January 2011.

NER Dinner Dance 2010:
The NER party and awards night was a huge success. The region would like to thank the organisers who yet again did an amazing job. A big congratulations to the winners of the awards:

NER Awards Nominations
The nominations are in and the list has been forwarded to you club secretary for voting. You can have a look at and make suggestions to your club secretaries - votes to be cast 1-3 in each category. There is only one set of votes per club permitted and these should by sent by your club secretary to National Committee rep Louise Duffy at duffyls@tcd.ie

The winners in the Club, Member and Secretary categories will be forwarded as the regional representatives for the AIRC National Awards.

NER Dinner Dance - Saturday 6th November 2010
The NER awards night will be held in Kettles Country House on Saturday November 6th.

Tickets will be available from the next regional meeting on October 6th. They cost Eur50 each.
There is a slight reduction if a table of ten are purchased together.

You can purchase your tickets from either Laura Carrick, Maria Carrick, Sarah Richardson or Michelle Lynch.

The Awards night committee are also looking for any pictures you have of your club or members from 2010 to be included in the slideshow - please send all pictures to info@chevalridingclub.com .


AIRC Lancelot Awards 2010
We have arrived at that time of year again for our regional awards and the AIRC Lancelot awards 2010.
The categories are as follows:
  • Club of the year
  • Horse of the year
  • Club member of the year
  • Club Secretary of the year
  • Person of the year

Club nominations must be submitted on official forms ((available on www.airc.ie or some attached) by the next Regional meeting which will take place on Wednesday, 6th October at 8.30 in the Man O'War pub, or alternatively they may be emailed to nersec@gmail.com no later than Tuesday 5th October.
  • No Canvasing allowed
  • You cannot nominate yourself or someone from your own club
  • You can vote for people nominated in your club
  • In the event of a tie - the committee will make the final decision

The winners in the following categories will be put forward by the region for the A.I.R.C's awards
  • Club of the Year
  • Club Member of the Year
  • Club Secretary of the Year
  • In the event of a tie - the committee will make the final decision

Please note: Nominations for Person of the Year for the Lancelot Awards do not go via the Region or Via your club. Individual members may nominate members or non-members for the Person of the Year Award. These may include a person who has contributed their time and energy to the riding club movement. These nominations should be submitted directly to Head Office by November 1st on the official forms

Dresssage training with Niall Quirke - 31st July & 1st August
As part of the Region's 2010 subsidised training programme the NER have arranged dressage training with Niall Quirke on Saturday 31st July and Sunday 1st August.

Currently places are limited to riders graded Advanced Intermediate and above. Sessions will be 45mins per individual and will cost €50.

Anyone interested please email copperfieldrc@gmail.com (Club, grade and horse's name) along with your preferred day for attending. Places are limited and will be offered on a first come first served basis - venue to be confirmed shortly.

Riding Club Classes at Tattersalls Ireland / Ward Union Show - 24th July 2010
The North Eastern Region will be running classes for all grades, plus green /young horses, in dressage, Derby jumping and combined training on Saturday, July 24th.

These classes are confined to fully paid-up members of the AIRC and run under the Association’s rules. Tis section of the Tattersalls Ireland/Ward Union Hunt show will provide riding club members with the opportunity to compete alongside some of the country’s top show jumpers and leading show riders.

The Tests for the dressage will be the eventing tests in use at this year’s one-day events:
  • Primary - BE 100 (2001)
  • Advanced Primary - BE 102 (2001)
  • Intermediate/Young/Green Horses - BE 91 (2009)
  • Advanced Intermediate - BE 92 (2009)
  • Open/Advanced Open - BE 101 (2009)
Pre-paid dressage entries (€15 per entry) must be with Louise Somers, 86 Gracepark Meadows, Drumcondra, Dublin 9 by Tuesday, July 20th.

SOCK Team SJ Challenge - 1st August 2010
The SOCK Team SJ Challenge will take place in Cheval Showgrounds on Sunday 1st of August:
SOCK Team SJ challenge

Supporting Ovarian Cancer Knowledge (SOCK) is a recently established non profit organisation, dedicated to raising much needed funds for research and awareness into ovarian cancer. It was founded in February 2010 and gained is charity status on the 8th April 2010 (registered charity number is 19231).

This event is OPEN TO ALL so AIRC and non AIRC members can compete. This will be a fun day out and additional novelty Showjumping classes will be added.
All funds raised will be donated to SOCK.

NER Horseware Team SJ Qualifier - 16th May 2010
The N.E.R. Horseware Team SJ Qualifier to be held at Kernan's Equestrian Centre on Sunday May 16th. The entry fee per team is €80. The draw for running order will take place at the Regional meeting on May 5th.

The closing date for these entries is Wednesday 5th of May at the N.E.R. Regional Meeting.
ONLY Teams submitted on the official entry form will be accepted.
Please ensure all club members are aware of the rules for this competition. Reserves, horse and rider combination, must be included on this form. They can not be added at a later date. Changes may only be accepted up to 30 minutes before the start of your regional qualifier.

All participating clubs will be assigned jobs for the day, failure to volunteer or complete your assigned tasks may result in disqualification from the competition. A Volunteer name & number MUST accompany the entry form.

Ashbrook Derby Day - 2nd May 2010
The Ashbrook Derby Day takes place on 2nd May 2009 at Killossery Lodge Stud.
There are prizes for 1-6th in Dressage and the Derby. We also have great raffle prizes, including a signed GBR polo shirt fro Toggi signed by some of the top ridres including Oli, Zara and Tim Stockdale.

  • 9.30am Start
  • Open League Class
  • Advanced Intermediate League Class
  • Followed by a Speed Competition for Open & Adv Inter riders
  • No earlier than 11am
  • Intermediate League Class
  • Novice B League Class
  • Followed by a Speed Competition for Intermediate only
  • No earlier than 1.30pm
  • Advanced Primary League Class
  • No Earlier than 3.00pm

  • Followed by a novelty class for Primary / Advanced Primary (such as a pairs competition)

NER Winter Showjumping League
  • There will be 5 legs of the League.
  • Entry Fees Winter League Classes, Novice B €15 - Speed & Novelty Competitions €10
  • Following several communications regarding the varying quality of prizes between shows it is imperative that show organisers stick to the previously agreed €60 Prize Fund limit per Class for the league classes. In order to do this fairly it was decided that vouchers would be preferable – ‘One 4 All’ or ‘Horseware’ vouchers which will be divided as follows:
    1st €30
    2nd €20
    3rd €10
    Any sponsorship received of prizes in kind may be used for fund-raising by holding raffles or similar.
  • The NER will provide all rosettes and final trophies.
  • Open / Advanced Intermediate and Intermediate League Classes will be run as per the 2009 league Power and Speed format – riders will jump fences 1-8 and if clear then 9-14 against the clock
  • Novice B class will now be run under Intermediate rules and rider will ride against the clock. It will be a class within itself and there will be prizes awarded as per other League classes.
  • Advanced Primary and Primary Classes will be run, as always, on optimum time. Riders will jump two rounds time/entries permitting.
  • Jumping will be strictly in the order of entry in all classes.
  • Riders must note that there is a time allowed for each class and time faults will be given to all grades if this time is exceeded.
  • To qualify for the Finals - a rider must compete in 3 shows plus the Final.
  • League points will be awarded for All shows attended.


Cheval Riding Club Bronze Horse League
The Events page has been updated with the revised dates for the annual Cheval Riding Club Bronze Horse League.

Competitors must atten 3 shows and the final to be eligible for the lauge.  Final is decided on a points basis.  There are rosettes for 1st to 6th place at each show and Prizes in kind at the final.  The start time is 12pm.  The format is as follows:

Mini /Primary: 70cm

Midi /Adv Primary: 80cm

Maxi / Intermediate: 90cm

Super Maxi / Adv Intermediate: 1m

Maxi Plus / Open: 1m 10cm

Jan 3rd 2010 - Showjumping & Dressage Show:
Carrickmacross Equestrian Centre and silver spurs rc are holding a new year show on jan 3rd.
This show open to all [horses and ponies].
The show will commence at 9.30am with dressage followed by jumping at 12pm sharp in the indoor arena.
Jumping starts @ 50cm, 60cm etc up to 1meter.
